It has been a busy week for the Green School's Committee this past week as they began an Environmental audit to assess the initial situation with water in our school and to identify areas for improvement. They located the water meter based on the footpath outside the school where our water usage will be calculated going forward.
Some members checked the whole school for water consuming devices such as toilets, taps and kettles, some devised litter warden and water warden rotas, while others conducted leak and drip tests in the taps and toilets with the help of food colourings. Thankfully our toilets were showing no leaks. The committee also completed an Environmental Review checklist.
First class to Sixth class are taking part in a Green School Irish Water poster competition where the children are illustrating the theme: Local Water Actions for Global Change.
Infant classes have been learning all about water and the importance of protecting our water supplies. They followed up their lesson with some artistic 'Fish Collage'.
Senior classes have been learning about the sustainable Global Goals including Global Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.
